Eleanor In The Rain

3/28/2018

Just the other day I was getting out of the car in the rain, in front of my house, when my dear friend Eleanor Dietrich saw me and pulled over at the curb.    Eleanor was the muse for my song “She was a Wildflower.”   https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=3&v=fVPWctCxu5c
She is a magnificent, wise woman, with an encyclopedia knowledge of wildflowers, and the natural world at large.    I hopped in her car for a quick visit, while the windshield wipers flopped back and forth.

Eleanor told me a story about this Florida County  (to protect her, and the flowers, I won’t name it)  where the county commission had voted to squash even the most non-aggressive ordinances that limited roadside mowing, and during the very time rare wildflowers were in bloom.   She said that one of the commissioners has told a friend of hers: “You can’t give these environmentalists anything.  Cause if you do, they are going to want more and more and more, until they take over the whole county.”
The reasoning here is based, of course, on the argument made by the Lord Jesus Christ, when he said:  “I know you’d like to feed the poor.  But if you do, they are just going to get hungry again, and then want to move in your house and have you feed them every meal.”

Build The Wall

This is my house. This is a wall that is next to my house. Today my friends Matthew and  Karen came by and installed this artwork. On this wall. I’m sure you understand the irony of the wall. Anyhow this is just the beginning. I’m going to be getting artists to come build the wall.

Grants Rants, Reasonings and Musings

So….I’ve got a new web site.    And on the web site is this place called  “Grant’s Rants”
I wanted to call it  “Grants Rants, Reasonings and Musings”  but my, um…’digital consultant’  says there’s not enough room on the ‘bar’  (whatever the hell that is)  to put all of that there.    That’s right:   I got a new web site, and before it gets rolling good I’m chest to chest with a restriction.

Technology.

In any case, we’ll just stick with ‘Grant’s Rants’ because of my love of assonance.  I will be posting and stashing a lotta ‘stuff’ here.   There will be poems and pictures and songs and videos and chronicles of my conditions of production.   Hopefully not many purely unadulterated rants.
Please join the feed.  Stay tuned in.  This is me trying to stay connected to people who ‘get’ what I’m trying to do with my work.  And my life.   And who have an interest in my artistic vision.
