Pitiful Little Town

Get off the Interstate and main highways in North Florida...and this is what you find
PITIFUL LITTLE TOWN
Weeds grow tall in the sidewalk cracks
Main Street's littered with wind blown trash
This town's best days have long since past
No, the mule drawn wagons, they ain't coming back
There's a pair of shoes swinging on a power line
Stores are boarded up with real estate signs
Abandoned, deserted, forgot and denied
Too damn hard to keep up in these times
It’s a pitiful little town
With a long winded story of glory gunned down
Honor and chivalry---those are words from the past that mean nothing today
No its dust and rust and ashes now
And its just a pitiful little town
There’s a pawn shop there where a flower shop was
An antique place that just sells junks
Oh, things get tight when times get tough
Before too long it gets to be too much
And it’s a pitiful little town
With a long winded story of glory gunned down
Honor and chivalry, those are words from the past that mean nothing today
No its dust and rust and ashes now
And its just a pitiful little town
Two ragged flags wave above a church house
Pretty old homes are tumbling down
Folks say they want better but it never works out
Its starting to look like a real Lost Cause now
Cause it’s a pitiful little town
With a long winded story of glory gunned down
All that honor and chivalry, those are words from the past that mean nothing today
No its dust and rust and ashes now
And it’s one pitiful little---
This is a pitiful little town
