LEAVING HER WAS
EASY
Leaving her was easy
Once she’d done throw’d all my
shit out in the yard
And all the things I’d done to hurt her
This time I’d pushed her too far
I knew it wadn’t personal what she done
to me that day
No, she’d’a done the same to any
man that had treated her that way.
Leaving her was easy,
Once I knew I’d never change her mind
Sure, I’d seen her pissed off before
but
God damn, I could tell she really meant it
this time
There wasn’t nothing I could do or say
To make all I’d done wrong right
So I picked up my stuff threw in back
of the truck
Called the dog and we crawled inside.
I cranked up my truck---well, actually she
had to help me push it off
And I rolled on down the drive
Through the tears in my rearview mirror
I seen her smile and wave goodbye
She walked back to the house but
She didn’t turn around
Like she’d always done before
Leaving her got easier
Once she stepped inside and closed the door
to the A and then
There wasn’t nothing I could do or say
To make what I had done wrong right
Oh, leaving her---it was easier---once I made
up her mind
Yea, leaving her was easy once I made
up her mind
